Two new tuberculosis outpatient clinics begin operating in Iola and Coffeyville replacing services from the Southeast Kansas Tuberculosis Hospital which closed in September. Clinics operate by appointment with Pat Kirkwood directing and clinicians Dr David C Hanson and Dr James W Wilson listed.

Topeka sources report Union Gas Co. will seek authority to discontinue only two miles of line east of Fredonia and may drop the request to cut five miles west of Fredonia. The amended filing to the Kansas Corporation Commission also requests no new customers in Wilson County. Union withdrew its original application after protests from Benedict and Lafontaine users. only three residences rely on the east Fredonia line.
