A new front is expected Tuesday bringing clouds and cooler temperatures, with readings ranging from the low 20s to mid 20s tonight. Goodland logged 13 degrees and Pittsburg 29 in frosty early conditions. Sunday highs spanned 38 at Goodland to 53 at Pittsburg.

Preliminary Is Waived By Youth In Grand Larceny Case
Robert Leon McKinstry a 19 year old from Lake Orion Michigan waived a preliminary hearing in city court on a grand larceny charge and was bound over to district court. Unable to post a 1500 bond he was jailed in Erie. The theft involved a 1956 Chevrolet owned by Elbert Goins of Earlton later wrecked at Osawatomie. Sheriff George Neely returned him from Paola Saturday morning. McKinstry said he was recently discharged from the Army at Camp Hood Texas and hitchhiked home saying he took the car because he was tired of walking after drinking. The Goins car was a total loss. It was taken from 16 N Evergreen not 23 W Main per a Saturday report.
