The Unified School District 413 board voted to reemploy nine principals and administrators for next year led by Supt Buford Fisher. Salary figures were discussed with concerns over pay levels relative to similar districts and possible increases to fund the coming year.
Police talked to and warned two groups of boys after complaints of snowballs and ice hitting cars. One driver nearly collided when snowballing occurred. six boys aged 15 to 18 were identified. Officers recorded two 18 year olds and two juveniles, with juvenile names referred to the county officer.
A caller quotes a letter addressed to Cha warning that stray bullets can break windows or kill livestock, suggesting the danger could destroy a town. The note emphasizes gunfire risks and public safety concerns.

Marion Showalter, Neosho county treasurer, reports brisk tag sales with 1,387 car and 371 truck tags issued by noon. Top tag holders include L. J. Chansler Galesburg for car No 1 and Harold LaRue Chanute for cycle No 1. Car licenses rose to 8,801 and truck licenses to 3,783 from 1965 records.
The Tribune names a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Burghart as the 1967 Stork Derby winner born at Neosho Memorial Hospital at 8:55 PM. The 5 pound 7 ounce baby received prizes from 13 Chanute businesses for mother and parents, including a nursery kit, merchandise certificates, cash, a savings account, diapers, a portrait, a record album, birth announcements, a diaper set and cigars for the father. The family includes one sister, 4% year old Vickie Jean. Burghart works for Churchill Inec. and his wife is JoAnn Chase. Last year’s winner arrived a day earlier on January 2. The 1966 winner was Susan Louise Taylor. A photo of Miss New Year 1967 with her mother was not available.
Topeka reports a mass of Pacific air lifting inland bringing sunny skies and temperatures in the 40s today and Thursday. The Weather Bureau says snow will melt across much of the state with a return to near normal winter temps later in the week and possible snow by the weekend. Lows tonight range from the upper teens to mid 20s.

Britain's Donald Campbell lost his life in a 310 mph crash on Lake Coniston while attempting to break his water speed record in the Bluebird jet hydroplane. Frogmen searched for his body as wreckage and personal debris were found on the lake. He had vowed to quit after exceeding 300 mph.
London police say eight paintings valued at seven million dollars, including three Rembrandts, three Rubens, and works by Gerald Dou and Adam Elsheimer, were recovered intact. Some pieces damaged slightly but kept in good condition. three suspects questioned as investigations continue.
