Snowstorm Delays Visit as Gov Love Guests Spend Weekend in Chanute

Gov. and Mrs. John Love of Colorado were hosted by the Merton Jeanes family at 211 E. 9th in Chanute last Saturday. A heavy storm forced travel delays as they rode with Kansas Highway Patrol to Kansas City for a flight to Washington after attending a Lincoln Day banquet in Independence.

Birds welcome as melted snow frees feeders in town

As snow melted birds find easier food after a brief 8 inch freeze. Residents Ot to and Mrs. Friederich report filling feeders and water daily, clearing ground, and watching redbirds blue jays and redheaded woodpeckers visit.
