Viet Cong Push Near Saigon as Offensive Intensifies

More than 1,000 Viet Cong and North Vietnamese pressed within 15 miles of Saigon seizing refugee villages in Bien Hoa and pressing toward Bien Hoa Long Binh Cu Chi. Allied reports say over 3,000 enemy troops were killed with U.S. casualties exceeding 200 dead and hundreds wounded as fighting spreads across South Vietnam. Civilian losses include at least 78 killed and 100 wounded in a refugee village attack in the Central Highlands.
