The Southeast Kansas Mental Health Center in Humboldt reports a 32.5 percent rise in interviews from 3 455 in 1970 to 4 593 in 1971. Opened cases grew 13.2 percent to 789 with 481 adults and 308 children. referrals came from family physicians, self referrals, schools, and families or friends.

Nixon leads Chanute area voters with 74 ballots in a local presidential poll ahead of Edmond Muskie with 18 and Hubert Humphrey with 14. Man of the Serengeti to air on Nat Geo tonight

Bomb blast kills eight at Aldershot base

An IRA bombing at the British Army base in Aldershot killed five women, an officer, and a male civilian, with sixteen others wounded.
