Lynda Campbell a freshman from Erie was crowned homecoming queen at a junior college dance last night. Six nominees were chosen by students and introduced at halftime of the Fort Scott game. Final voting was completed yesterday with the results announced after the post game dance in the college theater. Coach Lyle Rutter crowned Miss Campbell and Chester Day spoke at the gym.
Two bodies of the 11 missing workers were found at dawn as rescuers combed the wreckage of the Morning Star Paisley plant of International Latex Corp. Firefighters battled subfreezing conditions and fresh explosions while 18 others were injured. George Decker, 43, helped free Sandy Kanter, 19, who survived after being pinned by debris and calling for help.

Police report three cars at a senior high school had tires punctured overnight with a knife or ice pick. Jim Cornish of Chanute owned one car and found three flats, later noting two more cars nearby were also affected. A second owner, D. M. Franks, said all four tires on his car were punctured. The third car’s owner could not be determined.
Police yesterday charged Roy Monk Howell of 808 North Steuben with reckless driving and failing to report an accident after a car damaged yards at 9 East 8th and adjacent residences a week ago. A police court hearing is set for 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

A low pressure system may bring cloudiness and possible snow Sunday. up to 3 inches fell Friday night in the northeast.

A Friday night blaze in a small home one block from a fire station in Kansas City Kansas killed two brothers, Raleigh McGinty aged 62 and Chester McGinty 60. Authorities identified the victims and investigated the cause of the fire.
Neosho County Community Junior College trustees election rules changed. Filing deadline moved to Feb 21 at noon and signatures required on petitions increased from 25 to 50. Candidates with fewer signatures must withdraw, collect more names, and refile by noon Tuesday.
Two of three juveniles arrested February 3 in a string of break-ins and thefts were paroled today. One remains under parental supervision in Wilson County, another goes to a sister in Louisiana, while the third stays in county jail in Erie awaiting Job Corps entry. Curtis Henkle, 18, Buffalo and Chanute, pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor and not guilty to another, and remains in custody.
Mrs. Carolyn Fulps of 925 S. Ashby and Bob McCready, 16, of 213 W. 4th, had extensive damage to their cars in a 7 o clock collision at 507 W. Main. A six pack of beer was thrown from the McCready vehicle into an alley after the crash and police will interview him and another boy in the car. Bob Reynolds of Ku Ku Burger Bar reported minor damage to his car parked at 417 W. Main.
