In Athens Ohio AP report Rudy Zamora 20 a farm hand sought for the brutal slaying of four persons shot and killed himself as deputies closed in near a ridge six miles southwest of Athens Zamora a former mental patient of Mexican descent was believed responsible for the Friday night murders of W M Wildman 57 his wife Mildred 60 their son Eugene 14 and Geneva Pierce 26 with Patricia Wildman 22 and Danny Pierce 6 wounded Patricia and Danny were hospitalized in fair and good condition respectively Zamora reportedly sought money he claimed he was owed for farm work and died at the scene while a tractor was used to bring his body down from the ridge

A hearing is set for February 21 in Paola Kansas on a suit challenging a January 14 municipal ordinance banning trading stamps. The American Savings Stamp Co alleges the ordinance is invalid as it targets stamps redeemable in cash or merchandise, while it argues its stamps redeemable in savings bonds are exempt. The suit was filed in Miami County District Court Friday.
