For governor, McDill Boyd leads with 61 to 52 for Ferguson and 50 for Avery. A 93 91 split supports reducing Kansas House seats from 125 to 105. The Kansas Legislature meets in a special session to resolve apportionment after the state Supreme Court calls the current lineup invalid.

Robert Kaiser, director of state penal institutions, says no immediate plan after Legislature rejected funds for a new medium security prison. The driver John W Cowan 23 of 1624 Highland suffered a small scalp cut. Estimated damage to the truck and its load was 1000 dollars. A separate one car crash near Erie at US59 and K47 involved Ernest Griggs 48 who swerved to avoid a left turning car and damaged a 1960 Olds valued at 600 dollars in light rain on slick pavement.
