The body of Mrs. William Lee Hawkins, assistant postmistress at Easton, Mo., was found in her wrecked car in a small stream about six miles east of St. Joseph. Trooper Teare said she left Easton for a beauty parlor date at 1:30 and lost control at a wooden bridge over the Platte River, the car plummeting into the stream. The crash was discovered hours later and the coroner cited a skull fracture as the cause of death.
