House Burns Near Urbana Fires Destroy Unoccupied Home
A fire destroyed an unoccupied two story frame house south of Urbana near 7 am. The Chanute fire department truck couldn't reach it in time. Owner Eugene Connes of 106 N Lafayette reported remodeling and said loud speaker equipment and furniture burned. The house was insured and the owner tried to fight the blaze before calling the alarm.
