Fire Damages Two Homes Including Agnes Pierce Residence
Fire Chief John Erickson reported a coat fell from a chair onto a furnace at 820 N Garfield starting a fire at 5 a.m. light damage occurred to the chair wall and smoke damage. Earlier at 11:25 a.m. yesterday a fire at 905 S Ashby used by Ray Lee Almond for office work heavily damaged the interior replacing wall paneling. The cause was an electric heater and is not yet determined.

Liquor Enforcement Tax Distributed to Counties
State Treasurer Walter H. Peery announced a $347,084 distribution of net liquor enforcement tax revenue for the quarter ended December 15. Sedgwick County led with $49,255, followed by Johnson $23,664, Wyandotte $20,722, and Shawnee $18,614, while Wallace received $670. Seven prison terms for Mississippi civil rights case
