City fuel oil costs up cuts usage decrease
The City of Chanute faces higher fuel oil prices for No 6 and No 2 oils used in electric plants during gas curtailments. Despite price increases and 50 percent curtailments from Cities Service Gas, December electricity use is down about nine percent versus last year, aided by mild weather and home energy cutbacks. The city purchases power from KG&E and Coffeyville when curtailments occur.
