A fire destroyed the two story main building and most stock of the Merle Brooks fruit and vegetable market in Thayer. Firefighters saved adjacent structures as frost and light winds limited spread. Damage estimated at 10 000 to 15 000 with reopening planned in early spring.

City approves 10 appointments to three boards
