In St Joseph Missouri a county welfare board asked a beneficiary for permission to publish her name among the destitute and worthy at Christmas. She misunderstood the notice and sent one dollar to the Christmas Bureau fund for the needy. Welfare workers returned the dollar saying she has nothing and is very needy.

Bryon Hoffman Wounded in Backyard Draw Incident

Byron Hoffman a 17 year old from 1602 South Kansas accidentally shot himself in the calf while practicing quick draw with another boy in his back yard around 9 30 this morning. He was taken to Neosho Memorial Hospital for bullet removal. Police said the youths used a .22 caliber pistol for draw practice shooting at tin cans.

Two Buildings Hit by Car on West Main Crash

A car struck buildings at 205A and 205B W Main causing about 1000 in damage. The 1957 Olds owned by Mrs. Oma Caldwell had been parked with occupants including Jim Caldwell and three youths. Jerry Hively, 19, behind the wheel. He claimed a foot and gear shift mishap caused the crash. Officers cited him for reckless driving and destruction of property while Caldwell and Bill Corns were arrested for intoxication.
