The Burlington Mfg Co was honored in the Chamber of Commerce Salute to Industry series. Joe Rayburn, VP and Chanute plant manager, spoke on operations then led a plant tour. The Chanute plant, since 1948, employs about 125 mostly women with payroll over 300000. total company employment near 500 with plants in Concordia Missouri and Miami Oklahoma. The firm has national distribution and annual gross business around four million dollars. Three Youths Admit Robbery of Jewelry
In Kansas City AP report three youths signed statements admitting the jewelry robbery of a South Side home valued at 3745 dollars. Ronald F. O'Toole 17 led the entry after driving around the South Side where rich people live. The other two youths 16 were turned to juvenile officers. Items from the Rich home and an apartment were found at two youths' homes. Police planned further questioning about a separate 5810 dollar robbery last Monday.
