Wheat Plan Proposed by Senators in Congress
Washington AP three Midwest Republicans Sen Milton R Young N D Sen Frank Carlson Kan and Rep Mark Andrews N D introduced a voluntary two price wheat plan to simplify the current wheat certificate law. The measure would be self supporting if processors buy marketing certificates and would eliminate marketing penalties while ensuring domestic export parity with world prices. The agriculture secretary would set annual domestic and export needs, not less than one billion bushels, and announce required acreage yielding about 1.2 billion bushels on about 50 million acres next year. A minimum support level would remain at $1.30 a bushel.
