Airliner crash near Mt Weather kills 92 in Virginia
Heavy snow hampered searchers resuming the grim hunt for 92 people aboard a Trans World Airlines 727 that slammed into a Blue Ridge foothill near Mt Weather Virginia. NTSB chief Rudolf Kapustin said 26 bodies were recovered by Sunday night and 75 bodies plus the cockpit recorder had been found earlier. The jet from Indianapolis to Washington disintegrated on impact in a wind driven rain. Authorities called off early and planned morgue arrangements for relatives of 85 passengers and seven crew members.
