Grand Jury Indicts Six For Oklahoma Crime Plan

Oklahoma district attorney Frank Grayson was taken into custody after a Kansas City grand jury indicted six people on charges of bribery and conspiracy to promote crime in northeast Oklahoma. The case names Grayson and others including George Husong and Jack King, with bonds listed for several co defendants and hearings set for September 7.

Youth Loses Leg In Crossing Collision

Daryl Greve a 16 year old from 512 S Evergreen lost a leg Thursday afternoon when the motorcycle he rode met a Katy train at a crossing 0.3 miles east of the city limits on 14th Street. He was with two companions Sam Nooteboom and Dale Breiner who crossed before the train. The boy was taken to Neosho Memorial Hospital in serious condition with a left leg amputated below the knee a compound fracture above the knee both arms broken and multiple deep lacerations.

Fonda Hanoi Broadcasts Studied by House Panel

Washington AP The House Internal Security Committee released parts of transcripts from Jane Fonda antiwar broadcasts over Hanoi Radio as it reviews statements she allegedly made during a North Vietnam visit. The panel noted at least 10 broadcasts and cited quotes about questioning authority and the effects of bombing. The Justice Department is reviewing the texts as of Sept 1972 and may provide a report if the review finishes by then.

An explosion ruptured a 27 500 gallon storage tank in Bristow Oklahoma spilling salt water and crude oil. A federal agent suggested a bomb may be involved and more tests and site search would follow.

Tulsa Woman Charged In Shooting

A 60 year old Tulsa woman Jewel McCullough faced a murder charge after a Monday shooting at her home in Tulsa that wounded Leon Wesley Murphy 63 of Altoona Kansas. Murphy visited to return the aunt living with McCullough to Altoona. He was a lifelong Altoona resident and a retired farmer with three sons and nine grandchildren. Funeral services were set for 2 30 p m at Danson Knickerbocker Funeral Home in Fredonia with burial at Altoona Cemetery.

Detroit desegregation plan delayed by appeals ruling

A major Detroit area school desegregation plan covering Detroit and 52 suburbs will not be used when classes start September 6. The plan, issued June 14 by Judge Stephen J. Roth, would have desegregated 40 000 students across district lines but remains tied up in a pending appeal before the 66th Circuit Court of Appeals.
