Pedestrian Killed on Wichita Street Near Boeing Plant
A Wichita man Richard J. Leonard 21 was killed while crossing a street at the Boeing Co plant in southeast Wichita. Leroy E. Ross 36 was hospitalized with a broken leg and internal injuries. Gerald P. Murphy Jr. 21 an airman at McConnell AFB drove the car and was hospitalized. A passenger William W. Vogle 22 also McConnell airman was treated and released.

Man Killed in Salina Car Crash
One person died and three were injured in a two car collision in Salina Kansas. Emmett L Barkyum 70 of Clay Center died en route to a hospital. He was a passenger in one of the vehicles.

City weighs sharing cost of new rural fire truck
About 30 residents attended a meeting at the Memorial building to discuss fire protection outside the city limits. The city already serves Tioga township and 50 properties under contract, with one of three fire trucks used off town. The aging vehicle raises insurance costs for the rural protection area, and a new truck estimated at 20 000 to 30 000 is considered for better rates. One plan would have Tioga township levy up to one mill to help fund a new truck purchased and manned by the city, with a yearly charge set for contractors.
