A four year old Oklahoma boy, Lloyd Henry Knight, died in Oswego hospital after a fall from a tractor pulling a brush cutter near the Oklahoma line. The tractor was operated by his father Lloyd Knight of Welch Oklahoma.
A Marine reserve pilot died when his F9F Cougar crashed and burned during approach at El Toro Marine Air Station. The Marine Corps identified him as a member of Reserve Squadron IVMF 113 based in Olathe, Kansas, with the name being withheld pending kin notification.

A Kansas highway patrolman stopped truck driver Felix O'Brien near St. Paul. The driver claimed to work for O'Brien rock crusher and haul lime for Ed O'Brien at Parsons. The patrolman issued a ticket directing the driver to Judge John O'Brien in St. Paul.
