Mrs. Ethel D. Hodge, 88, a Westview Nursing Home resident and former Woodson County teacher, paints daily using her mother’s 100 year old paint box. Hayes visits and supports local history, as she recalls teaching at 17 and founding two kindergartens with National Kindergarten Association aid. Her work, mainly landscapes, decorates the nursing home dining room while she copes with heart disease and a life lived “on high.”
