Felix Bouray a 69 year old reed organ repairman works from 1208 S Edith. He began 15 years ago as a sideline to his city electric plant job and has repaired 17 reed organs. Most instruments are 80 to 90 years old and family heirlooms stored in garages. He tunes pianos and player pianos and sometimes installs electric motors to power the bellows. In the east a refurbished instrument can fetch 1500 to 2000 dollars.

Teens Rescue Beached Whales In Boca Grande S Gulf
In Boca Grande Florida teenagers formed a human chain to piggyback on a herd of beached whales and steer 47 of them back to deeper water. Sgt. Robert Patterson of Florida Marine Patrol says two whales died. The animals 8 to 20 feet long briefly lingered near the shore before a squall drove them back out. Officer Don Ellingsen notes they wallowed in shallow water for about two hours.

Payroll Checks Stolen at Farmers Market Store
Ten payroll checks totaling $632.74 were stolen Thursday evening from the Farmers Market at 615 W. Cherry. An employee left then returned to find the checks missing from an enclosed office near the main entrance. The thief reached over a partition to take them. no forced entry. The theft was reported Friday morning. The checks were drawn on Chanute Bank of Commerce. A stop payment order has been issued.
