Rezoning OK’d for Fireworks Firm on Lincoln Street
The city commission approved a 2 to 1 vote rezoning a 50 by 50 foot tract at 402 S Lincoln from R-1 to B-2 for James H. Taylor Jr. to build a fireworks sales and storage facility. Taylor, who operates a fireworks sideline, will use the building for a few weeks each June and July. The decision followed a Zoning Committee recommendation and included a protest from Mr. and Mrs. Russell E. Davidson. Mayor Rush and Commissioner Evans voted yes. Commissioner Williams voted no proposing B-3 instead. The purchase agreement governs the business type to be placed on site. Public hearing on the 1961 city budget occurred with no changes.

Dennis Schultz Hurt In Mixer Accident
Dennis Schultz, 24, of Chanute, was injured while cleaning a cement mixer at Chanute Concrete Products Co. at about 9 30 last night. His lower leg was broken in two places and his big toe was almost severed. The mixer turned on, pulling his foot in. Full details were not available.

Two Children Hurt in Mishap at Neodesha Driveway
Gloria Jean Barney ten, and Dennis Seller, riding bicycles in the Seller driveway Neodesha, were struck when neighbor Mrs Fulton backed a 1960 DeSoto into the drive. The car crashed through a stucco wall injuring both children. Gloria sustained an eye injury but doctors hope vision remains. Mrs Fulton cited for reckless driving.

Teens Admit Beating and Stabbing Widow in Looting
