They traveled 2500 miles by car for the fishing expedition and fished Red and Gull Rock Lakes catching six wall eye and six northern pike per day. They used a guide first day then fished solo with motor and rowboats and sent some catch home. Utah cafe blast kills 15 injures 25 in Monticello
An explosion in the Lariat Cafe on U.S. Highway 160 in Monticello Utah leveled the structure during dinner hour. Fifteen people died and about 25 were injured as rescuers aided survivors and flown patients to Salt Lake City Cortez and Grand Junction. The blast, blamed on a gas leak, blew bodies through walls and left a 30 foot deep hole. Two utility workers from Salt Lake City survived.
