Chanute native survives Denver air crash uninjured
Ernest Meek a 38 year old Chanute native escaped a Continental Airlines 727 wreck at Stapleton Airport on takeoff. Meek jumped an emergency door and was unhurt, while 36 others suffered injuries and nine Kansans were treated and released. City workers to receive 30 cent raise in tentative pact
A tentative agreement reached by city negotiators would raise hourly workers to start at 2.64 and top at 5.06 per hour, boosting payroll by about 87 thousand dollars annually for 140 hourly employees. The settlement includes two years of cost of living increases but no extra vacation or holiday benefits.
