Farm land prices surge as agriculture real estate climbs
New data from the Department of Agriculture shows farm real estate values up 13 percent in the past year, boosting six-year gains to about 50 percent. Nevada leads with 150 percent since 1967, while New England areas show near 100 percent gains. Higher commodity prices, including soybeans, help fuel the rise, with land values ranging from about 150 dollars for wheat lands to over 1,200 dollars for Illinois corn land.
