Three Killed In Kansas Traffic Fatalities Rise in Year
The Associated Press reports three weekend traffic deaths in Kansas. Joseph Hoover, 23, of Dighton, died after his car hit a tree. Harry E. King, 31, of Hutchinson, died from injuries in a car-truck collision near Hutchinson. Roscoe McMurdo of Little River and R A White of Hutchinson were injured, and T E Gaines, 62, of Hays was found dead in a car that had overturned near Glade on the 29th.

Truck Bus Collision Injures 23 in New Jersey
A coal truck struck the rear of the second bus at the Somerset Bus Co loading curb, pushing it into the first bus. Twenty three people were hospitalized. Driver Lionel Knoll, 25, of Schuylkill Haven Pa, said a gas pedal stuck and he could not move lanes.

In Coffeyville Kansas a flash flood from five inch rain sent six families to safety by fire department boats. Sewers overflowed and water reached up to six feet in lower areas as 5.2 inches fell downtown and nearby stations logged six inches. New Peak For Power In Hot Weather

Berkebile previously led the Wellington Daily News 1947–53 and served in D C with the International Cooperation Administration. Since 1956 he has worked in Wichita as assistant to the regional operations director. The post has been vacant since Aug 1 after Robert R. Justus retirement. Vickers Refining Co Plans Small Raise in Kansas Crude Price
Vickers Refining Co of Wichita says it will raise its posted Kansas crude price by 7 cents a barrel effective tomorrow. President J W Meehan notes the move restores the price for 40 gravity crude to 35.05 dollars per barrel as refining margins improve. The company buys about 5000 barrels daily around Marion County and had paid 2.98 per barrel about a year ago.
