Bremer Found Sane and Guilty in Wallace Shooting

Arthur Bremer was found sane and guilty of attempted assassination of Alabama Governor George Wallace. A 63 year prison sentence was imposed with multiple 10 year terms for assault and firearms use on Wallace and three others. Bremer faces federal charges and possible parole after about 16 years, with custody decided by the state Corrections Department.

Wallace declines draft call as American party backs Schmitz

The American party nominated John Schmitz as its presidential nominee after George Wallace told the convention by telephone he could not be its standard bearer.
