In Cleveland AP reports an 18 year old Marine corporal, Dennis Brown, a two time Purple Heart winner, told his parents he is alive and coming home after being reported killed last weekend. His parents faced funeral arrangements before a caller corrected the mistake. Dennis called at 4 30 am saying he was fine and aware of the earlier error.

Auto Theft Charged Against Bennie Vance in Chanute
Bennie Vance 24 of Chanute was arrested by police and jailed on auto theft charges. Officers found him asleep under a house on Steuben at 1M and 9:20. The 1960 pickup from John Curtis residence 514 N Steuben vanished after he fled from police at 14% W Pine around 4 a.m. April 18. The truck was recovered near Buffalo the next day badly damaged and a .22 pistol removed from the vehicle traced to a Coffeyville pawnshop. Vance is held at the city jail pending transfer to Erie County jail for arraignment.
