Youth Killed in Nighttime Crash East of Earlton
A one car crash on US 169 near Earlton killed 24 year old Frank Jerod Leon of Mound Valley and injured three others. Injured were Manuel Martinez 19 Albert Pilkington 22 and Chalen Waller 23. Ray Bonilla 20 escaped injury. The Nash sedan rolled several times after leaving the road. Martinez and Pilkington suffered critical head injuries. Waller serious with scalp laceration and hip dislocation. Bonilla was checked and released. Authorities identified Pilkington as driver and the car as totally demolished. Leon was taken to Wilson Johnson Mortuary and later Sperry Funeral Home.

Youth Is Acquitted Of Negligent Homicide
Frank Barnes a 17 year old from Hutchinson was acquitted by a Sedgwick County District Court jury of negligent homicide in the traffic death of Clifford Collins also 17 from Hutchinson. Collins died after Barnes' car collided with another at a U S 54 intersection near Cheney. Barnes had appealed from a common pleas court conviction carrying six months in jail and a $500 fine.
