Mrs Pat Johnson 33 of rural Humboldt was critically injured when her car collided head on with a semi trailer on US 169 north of Chanute about 4 55 p m. She was taken to Neosho Memorial Hospital with an apparent cervical fracture. The accident occurred near the Neosho River bridge 2 6 miles north of the city. The truck belongs to Nelson Brothers LaHarpe contracting firm driven by Carl A Nelson 50 of Iola. He was not injured. The highway was blocked about 45 minutes.

Judge Alexander 88 Dies at Wichita
Judge Joseph E. Alexander aged 88, longtime district court judge and lawyer, died in Wichita. Born February 4, 1877 in Maryville Missouri, he moved to Kansas at age nine and arrived in Wichita in 1898. He attended what became Wichita State University and Fairmount College, captaining football at both, joined the Kansas Bar in 1900, served as district judge from 1925 to 1933, then returned to private practice. His wife Eva died in 1957.
