The Ray Cummings residence at 1512 S Highland burned Thursday afternoon after a hot water heater overheated. The kitchen, a bedroom and a rear utility room were lost with smoke and water damage throughout the house. The six children aged 8 to 13 were at school. Donations of furniture clothing and food poured in from local groups including FISH Kayettes Seventh Day Adventist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. The family, who moved from Sedan in January, will relocate to a nearby home owned by Cummings.

Kansas House Passes New Criminal Code in 78-34 Vote
