In Olympia the smoke from an east Capitol grounds construction project blanketed the Senate chamber as the ventilating system pulled it inside while lawmakers discussed air pollution law changes. The scene highlighted tensions over environmental policy during a routine session.

The Safari Museum boards present the premiere of Baboona shot by Osa and Martin Johnson in Africa at the Neosho Junior College auditorium next Tuesday and Wednesday. The invitation-only first night honors key donors. public viewing is free on the second night. Vern Carstens, Johnsons’ pilot, will be honored. the museum now holds all Johnsons full-length films and related works.
