Thayer Residents Lose Gas For Hours Friday Night
Thayer residents faced about five hours without natural gas after a valve on a Cities Service line outside a meter house west of Thayer was closed. Gas service returned around 11:30 after crews ensured all appliances and pilots were off to prevent fumes or explosions. Harold Sutton, gas supervisor, noted the valve closure affected Thayer while a second valve that could cut gas to Galesburg remained open.
