City deploys mist sprayer for Dutch elm disease
The city received a trailer mounted mist sprayer for spraying elm trees and began first use at City Park. City Manager R J Hayes said two crews will train and spray public and possibly cost-based private property. The unit costs 4050 dollars and uses DDT to target elm bark beetles.

Six Year Old Liberal Boy Critically Injured in Crossing

In Miami Oklahoma a 54 year old Picher resident was jailed for questioning in the bludgeoning death of Charles R Hall an 80 year old pensioner from Treece Kansas. The crime occurred at the Picher home of Hall's wife Nim Holmes Hall and his wife are separated by the border. J C Foote 68 who with his wife and granddaughter were visiting the Halls said Holmes and Hall often argued.

Plea of Guilty Wounded Rider In Fair Condition
Pony Express rider Raymond Bowyer 24 in Goshen County Hospital after a .22 caliber bullet wound in the abdomen. Bowyer and David Hull 33 of Chillicothe Mo were shooting at cans seven miles west of Torrington when the bullet struck Bowyer during relay of the express packet. Hull pleaded guilty yesterday to grand larceny and was sentenced to not more than five years in the state penitentiary.
