Steve Small Wins Grand Award at Chanute Science Fair
Ninth grade Royster Junior High student Steven Small won the grand award for Diet Effect on Mice at the Chanute Science Fair. He also earned the junior high gold. Lenette Gassner and Steven Sommars took silver and bronze in that division. Cathy Ann Mih won elementary gold, with Brenda Laurie and Ricky Good taking silver and bronze in the upper grades. High school had two entries and no awards as the fair closed at six this evening.

Soldier Killed in Missouri Car Crash
A Plains Kansas soldier Leo M. Jones 20 a member of the 399th Army Band died when his car struck a parked truck six miles east of Waynesville Missouri early today. He was the son of Mr and Mrs Lewis L Jones of Plains Kansas.
