Cars Damaged In Accident Near Erie
A car carrying five Chanute women and a second vehicle driven by a Mission resident collided at the intersection of highways K47 and US 59 south of Erie. No injuries were reported though both cars were heavily damaged. Drivers Violet Marie Lucas and Harry Lee Grady Jr. were identified. Passengers in the Lucas car included Mrs. Dale Fairchild and others. The Lucas vehicle was struck from behind as it began a left turn from southbound US59 onto K47.

Bennington Crash Claims Leonard Hazlett
A car struck a bridge abutment five miles west of Bennington Kansas yesterday killing Leonard H. Hazlett, 58, of Oak Hill. Hazlett was the sole occupant of the vehicle in the fatal accident. The collision occurred on the highway near the bridge, and state authorities were investigating the cause.
