Escapees From Fort Sill Bus Breakout Continue Search
Five of ten military prisoners who overpowered guards and fled Tuesday remain at large in north central Oklahoma as a search extends. Five were captured before nightfall, one of two pistols taken from guards was recovered, and the escapees had seized a chartered bus carrying 18 prisoners en route from Ft. Sill to Ft. Riley when the driver was forced to stop about 100 miles from Ft. Sill.

Erie voters approved an industrial levy not to exceed one mill to fund industrial development by 391 to 138. Package liquor licensing was defeated 285 to 271.
