Central Illinois Teachers Annual Session Ends at Noon

The Central Illinois Teachers association concluded Friday afternoon at the University with section meetings in High School Intermediate City and County groups. Visitors toured University buildings and saw the Armory drill before an evening session featuring Dr. Hewitt and President Draper.

Virginia Jail Lynching: Cotton and O'Grady Hanged

In Emporia Virginia a mob of about 700 forced the jail, lynching Walter Cotton the Black man who murdered three white men. Militia had sheltered him until withdrawal. shortly after Cotton’s hanging Brant O Grady a white man was also hanged from the same limb.

West Point Cadetship Winners From Illinois

The war department announced the approved list of cadetship recipients to West Point for Illinois. Named are Ralph D. Bates of Bloomington, Edmund B. Gregory of Canton, Robert R. Parker of Robinson, and Edward E. Miller of East St. Louis. The event took place March 23 in West Point Washington.
