Republicans Near Completion of Precinct Polls
The work of polling the city's precincts is nearly finished by the Republicans. The men in charge are experienced and their reports are expected to be nearly as accurate as an actual vote. Prompt submission of lists will aid the campaign.
Smallpox Scare Reported in Schuyler County and Peoria
The Illinois state board of health was notified of smallpox in fourteen Littleton township families in Schuyler County with several serious cases. A Dix normal school pupil named Winters is linked to the spread, previously misidentified as chickenpox. Four more cases were reported from Mound City. In Peoria, Harry Reynolds, weighmaster at the lower sugar works, contracted the disease, prompting quarantine of the Van Sant building.
