The Trevett residence at West University avenue and Elm street was destroyed by fire after Mrs. Trevett, using gasoline, stepped on a match. The cedar home built in 1884-85 valued at about $20,000 was insured for $6,000 plus $1,500 contents. Many residents watched as flames reached E N Raynor's nearby property. The family faced displacement and offered temporary shelter while seeking a new home.

Death of A Morrison After Fall and Apoplexy
J A Morrison aged 75 died at noon at his home 59 North Neil street from apoplexy caused by a fall on Main street earlier Thursday. He had lived in Champaign two years after moving from Denver and previously resided in Mattoon. He leaves four daughters Mrs Osborn of Denver Miss Anna Morrison of Lyons and Misses Minnie and Alicia of Champaign. Funeral arrangements not yet set.
