Illinois board of agriculture met in Springfield and scheduled the state fair for September 24 to 29. They postponed filling a Fifth district seat vacancy, named F A Busse as superintendent of the educational department, and added 500 dollars to corn premiums by dropping the agricultural display. The 1899 fair showed a 7937.75 balance. Also notes Champaign fire department growth to 125 towns and 10,000 members, and half the members insured for accidents.
