Remains of Thomas Bailey Slayton Brought Home for Burial
The remains of Thomas Bailey Slayton of New York arrived at 1 o clock Thursday over the Wabash and were interred beside his mother Mrs Susan B Slayton at Mt Hope with Rev W H Stedman conducting. He died in Waco Texas December 21 from injuries after being thrown from a carriage on December 20. He was twenty six and the son of Mrs Slayton daughter of the late David Bailey and formerly of Champaign. W H Lastinger escorted the body from Waco to St Louis meeting there by S W Slayton father of the deceased who came to the city. Capt E Bailey and family of this city Capt and Mrs David Bailey of Tuscola and Orlas Bailey of Texas were among those who met the party.
