W. H. Tarrant completed photographs of the murder scene west of town at the request of C. W. Snyder. In the background the patrol wagon is visible with Driver John Garrett, Chief Oster, Captain Brownell, and officers Kline, Keller, and Greenawalt. Roy Keller, William Keusink, Fred Giese and C. W. Snyder also appear. The haul included over three tons of car brasses from lines such as the Big Four and Vandalia, valued around $600, much of it unused, with railroad officials promising an immediate investigation.

Washington reports the house debate on currency stretched from 11 a m to 10:30 p m with a three hour dinner break. Twelve democrats eight from New York two from Pennsylvania and one each from Maryland and Massachusetts support the bill while numerous republicans democrats and a populist oppose it. The house approved a holiday recess from December 20 to January 3 as the senate limited routine business to brief acts.
