Murder in corn field near Arthur farm shocks town
A man later identified as John M. Snyder of Beck Indiana was found murdered in a ditch near the Arthur farm west of town. Coroner Penny ordered a post mortem revealing a fatal skull fracture. a possible robbery motive is suspected. Snyder had about sixty five dollars and planned to beat his way home to Indiana. Authorities pursue leads while the body is sent to Columbus Indiana for burial.

Prosper Brulle a 96 year old retired farmer from St George was found drowned in a large stock watering tank on the Barril farm Saturday morning. He was in frail health and likely unable to save himself.
