Virgil Tadlock aged 26 was found dead Sunday morning between two tracks at Otto near Kankakee with a hole in the back of his head and a contusion above the left eye. He had been in Champaign five years. He leaves a brother Roy Tadlock. Funeral was held Monday at his sister's home and interment at Mt Hope.
Funeral services for the late Mrs Tina Smith wife of Capt T J Smith were held at 10 this morning at the home 407 West University avenue. Interment followed at Mt Hope. Active pallbearers were T C Beasley U G Ingen Fred Bailey B M Nakoe Hessel and W W Maxwell. Honorary pallbearers included Alpha Tau Omega members and Pi Beta Phi patrons with named members listed. Miss Marsh and Mrs Holiday of St Louis nieces of Captain Smith attended. Judge C B Smith of Minneapolis ill and cannot attend. Viewing hours were 9 to 11 this morning.
Special Officer Fred Giese of the Illinois Central stopped a Sunday morning craps game in a buffet library car waiting at a station. He described a wild scramble with about eighteen participants and noted a Central employee boasted to the officer about the incident. The officer reported the matter to Chicago officials.
Ludlow HL Aus hosted Pickettsville in a Sunday game with the visiting nine winning 15 to an incomplete Ludlow score.
In Chicago on August 24 waiters and cooks in 200 restaurants run by the Restaurant Keepers association walked out for a second time. At Kohler's State Street lunch room a riot erupted with pistols and knives displayed as union agents were barred. The union says 9 000 will strike. owners claim under a third will walk out and the strike will fail.
Carter, a resident of Champlion, Illinois, died of heart trouble Saturday at 2:30 PM. Born February 9, 1838 in Gallia County Ohio, he married Comfort Irwin in 1860. Survived by his wife, seven children (three deceased), four living, three brothers, two sisters. Funeral at 10 AM today at his house, with Rev. J. W. Miller and Rev. Isaac Groves officiating.

A southbound Monon Central freight train crashed into an eastbound Lake Erie and Western passenger train at the Y east of Bloomington Illinois. A passenger coach was demolished and thirty people were hurt with no fatalities. Separately in Fond Du Lac Wisconsin an opening rails wreck of a Chicago and Secrete passenger train killed George Zuhike and injured about twenty including Conductor May as the train slid into a twenty foot embankment.
Lou Dillon, owned by C. K. G. Billings of Chicago, trotted a mile in two minutes at Readville Massachusetts this afternoon. The feat has long been sought by trotting horses and is hailed as a major achievement in the sport.
Mr and Mrs Michael Lyons of 110 West Springfield avenue were tossed from their buggy when a frightened horse at St Marys church after John Conroys funeral caused the vehicle to overturn. Mr Lyons sustained scalp wounds and a broken collar bone.
S and L Andrews, a mill room worker at the Big Four shops, was injured around 11 oclock Monday when a hammer slipped from a bench and struck him on the head an inch long gash evident. He was dragging a star from the room at the time.
