A horse driven by Mrs Powers and a nearby surrey collided with a second vehicle near Neil and Main. Mrs Powers and Mrs Riley were injured as bystanders and others attended to the scene.
Mrs. Sarah A Owens sues Miles C Owens in Urbana for divorce. She alleges they were married August 27 1900 and lived together until January 10 1904 when he deserted her for two years. She seeks full relief in the court petition.
Gov Yates reports a wave of resignations across agencies as of December with names including Rowley of Chicago named to the state board of dental examiners and Tolono trustee Fin Imena listed. A public event at Champaign is described as well attended with a volunteer dance.
Urbana police pursued a tramp who stole Officer Hoys bicycle after lodging was granted to a sickly hobo. The thief, later identified as F. P. Stephen of Danville, was captured after a disturbance on South Race street and placed in custody as mentally unbalanced. The suspect is believed to be temporarily insane and was sent to a relative in Danville.
John Darwin Elliott and Lailie Barton were married Thursday afternoon at the bride’s brother’s home at 301 South New Street by Dr. W A Smith of the First M E church. The ceremony was witnessed by immediate relatives. They will reside on a farm near Fairmount.
In Oacoma Aug 7 a heat record prefaced a day of rain that followed a low atmospheric mood. Dozens of kittens under six months perished in the area from possible airborne poison while a drove of cattle saw eight fall, six dying before a farmer and stockman reported losses. Subsequent heavy rains reportedly neutralized the toxin.

Mrs Aurora Hodge who confessed in Grand Rapids to involvement in the murder of William X. Ryan, a spectacles peddler near Murray Utah, now says she did not fire the shot that killed him. The body showed a fatal head wound but she claims she shot at him from the side while he charged. A photo in her belongings matches a man seen with Ryan and Hodge days before the murder, whom police suspect as an accomplice whose whereabouts remain unknown.
