Mrs Porter, arrested for unlawful cohabitation, was arraigned in Judge Hess court. After a heated argument, the jury acquitted her of the serious charge while Mrs Carter admitted she had her arrested to humiliate her husband, who faced desertion charges.
On October 1 a group of residents asked to widen the south sidewalk along Loeust Street between Pearl and Silver, near the city park. City Engineer Atterbury and the street committee approved widening at the south end, costing about 160 dollars, pending agreements from opposite-side property owners.
