Explosion at Imperial Powder Plant injures three near Centralia
A serious blast at Imperial Powder Company three miles southeast of Centralia on Coal Creek injured three men in the mixing room. Foreman E W Brown was the most seriously hurt, with facial burns and a burned hand after a spark from an iron hammer ignited powder. George Dingman and Louis Clark also suffered injuries as the building was blown by the concussion. The plant roof was torn loose and walls bulged. officials blamed Brown's careless handling of the powder. The men were treated by Dr. G H Dow in Chehalis and the plant closed for repairs estimated at about 100 dollars plus 48 hours to fix. This marks the second explosion in seven months at the plant after a November incident that killed eight workers' bodies buried in Chehalis.
